Net Worth Update – November 2014

I can’t believe that it’s December already! The days of 2014 are quickly slipping by. After this, there will only be one more net worth update for this year. So, How did I do?

Net Worth Update as of November 30, 2014

I’m pretty excited about my progress in November. I managed to grow my net worth by $1,187 in the past month. That means I only have $249 to go to make my goal of growing my net worth by $10,000 in 2014!

Of course, making my goal still isn’t a certain thing. December is going to be a pricey month! My 6 month car insurance premium is due (~$400), the license plates on my car are up for renewal (~$400), and I have presents to buy for Christmas (I have $650 left in the budget for the Holidays). That’s a lot of money, on top of my normal expenses.

I’m still hopeful of how the rest of the year will shake out. I’ve already met my debt payoff goal for this year. I’ll likely be short on my 401(k) goal, but not by much. Due to Thanksgiving, my current balance doesn’t show my employer’s November contribution, so, assuming the market remains steady, my account should show a good sized bump in December. Actually, if the contribution had made it in a few days earlier, I’d have already met my overall goal of growing my net worth by $10,000 (to $11,216).

One more month, then it’s on to the 2015 goals!

  1. And you’re over the $10K hump! Awesome! I hope it stays there through all the December expenses 🙂 Congratulations.

    1. Thanks! I’m hopeful I can make it through December and at least hold tight to the progress I’ve made. We’ll see how the month plays out!

  2. ooh, tantalizingly close to your goal! I think you can make it. Do you have a reward in mind if you hit 10k?

    1. I was feeling pretty good about it, but then the stock market started going down. Everyday I feel like I get a little bit farther away. But, there’s still almost 2 weeks left, so we’ll see how it goes!

I’m pretty excited about the idea of making the goal, so I think it’s one of those instances where making it will be reward enough? I did talk to Bryan last night about upgrading our internet and getting Netflix if we got my house sold. I guess that’s kind of a reward for selling the house (if/when that happens). But I’m looking at it more as balancing things out; I’ll be getting rid of some big expenses, so it only seems fair to take on a few small ones that will improve our lives.

      1. netflix sounds like an awesome reward. Lots of enjoyment, very little money spent. Good luck with the rest of the year. The market will bounce back!

        1. I’ve never had Netflix, but my parents love it, and I could definitely see it being a great/inexpensive form of entertainment. Bryan doesn’t 100% understand the concept. It cracks me up, he has an 80+ year old friend who keeps trying to tell him how wonderful it is, but Bryan gets all kinds of confused when the guy starts throwing out words like “WiFi” and “USB”. I just keep smiling and telling him “Don’t worry, I’ll deal with all that. It’ll be great! You can watch lots of movies, and TV shows! You’ll like it! Really!”
